Ultra Violet (UV) Ballast for Germicidal Ultra Violet Lights

Essentially, the ballast acts as a power source, providing the correct electrical conditions for the UV lamp to function properly. A UV ballast is crucial for operating UV lamps. It manages the electrical conditions needed for a UV lamp to start and run effectively, including providing a high initial voltage to ignite the lamp, and then regulating the voltage and current to ensure the stable operation of the Germicidal UV Lamp. This is essential for applications like disinfection and other industrial processes.

UV Ballasts for Germicidal Ultraviolet (UV) Lights

Essentially, the ballast acts as a power source, providing the correct electrical conditions for the UV lamp to function properly.

A UV ballast is crucial for operating UV lamps. It manages the electrical conditions needed for a UV lamp to start and run effectively, including providing a high initial voltage to ignite the lamp, and then regulating the voltage and current to ensure the stable operation of the Germicidal UV Lamp. This is essential for applications like disinfection and other industrial processes.

*Please note that all our Ultra Violet (UV) Ballasts are designed to fit Germicidal UV Lamps (Bulbs) with 4 pins on one side, and no pins on the other side of the lamp. These ballasts will not fit on the Germicidal UV light lamp, with two pins on either side of the lamp.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Initial Voltage:
The ballast delivers a high initial voltage to ignite the UV lamp, which is necessary due to the lamp's negative resistance between the electrodes.
Voltage Regulation:
Once the lamp is lit, the ballast regulates the voltage and current to ensure the lamp operates smoothly and efficiently.
Stable Output:
The ballast transforms unstable power input into stable power, allowing the UV lamp to function reliably.
Output Characteristics:
The ballast's output characteristics, including voltage and current, are determined by a combination of resistors, capacitors, inductors, and other components.

Keep In Mind

The UV Ballasts are typically rated for specific wattage ranges, such as 1 to 16 watts or 1 to 55 watts. It is important to ensure that you match the wattage range to your Germicidal UV lights rating.
The UV Ballasts are rated for an input power of 220
The Standard UV ballasts are not water or dust-proof in any way, and so should not be installed outdoors without some form of cover or protection from the elements. Please note the UV ballasts' warranty does not cover damage caused by moisture or dust.
The germicidal UV Light ballasts' warranty does not cover damage caused by power surges or lightning strikes. Installation of a surge protector before the UV Ballast is always recommended to protect the ballast.
