Under the counter Leak Detector
The Leak Detector is a easy and simple way of helping to stop leaks, before they can cause damage to cupboards and floors.
Benefits:
- Easy to install
- Does not require any electricity
- Helps to protect your cupboard from damaged caused by leaks
- Compatiable with most under the counter systems including:
- Single under the counter system
- Double under the counter system
- Triple under the counter system
- Under the counter Reverse Osmosis
- Under the counter Nanofiltration
- Under the counter Ultrafiltration
- Under the counter Ultra Violet (226 LPH and 400 LPH options)
Keep in Mind
- The leak detector only prevents leaks around the actual filter system, it does not prevent leaks at either the source connection or the 1/4 inch Faucets that come with most under the counter system.
- The leak detector is not compatible with the Direct line systems or the Direct line Ultra Violet Systems
How does it work?
The leak detector is very simple consisting of three main componets: Drip tray, shut off switch and fabric tabs.
- The drip tray is seated at the bottom of the filter system.
- The shut off switch is placed in the drip tray, and connects between the piping from the water source to the filter system.
- The material tab is loaded inside the shut off switch.
As water leaks from a system it drops down into the drip tray, the drip tray is shaped in such a manner that any water falling into the tray flows to a single point on the tray. The shut off valve sits in the point where the water flows to, with the material tab loaded in it.
The material tab begins to swell and expand as it absorbs the water, eventually it swells large enough to trigger the lever on the shut off switch. When the shut off switch trips the water supply to the system is stopped and so the leak is also haulted.
When anyone tries to draw water from the system, they will see that there is none and that the shut off switch has been triggered indicating there is a leak in the system.
No water will be allowed through to the filter system until the shut off switch's level is manually set to the "open" position.
